Best Pictures from this year

It is always a hard choice to pick the photographs that I like the best and it is even harder to anticipate what others may like. These are some of my favorites for this year.

Picture 1 -

The is the museum building at the restoration of Chateau Dubuc, Martinique.

I had always visited this site in the morning. The late afternoon light and shadows changed the whole scene.

The runes of the theater, Saint Pierre, Martinique.

I was fortunate to have the morning sun illuminate the arch.

An island off the east coast of Dominica.

The pattern of the waves coming ashore attracted my attention.

A young lady and future sailor, Antigua Classic Regatta, Antigua.

I was resting in the shade when i looked up to see this young lady examining a boat she had made.

Picture 5 -

Church in downtown Terre D'en Haut, The Saintes, Guadeloupe.

The church is a prominent fixture in the downtown area, but impossible to photograph without getting a mass of distracting wires. As a test of a new program "Affinity Photo" i took to remove the wires from an existing picture. Came out better than i expected.

Picture 6 -

A purple-throated Carib. Taken in the rainforest east of Roseau, Dominica

After spending the morning at a hot springs we sat down to lunch at a nearby restaurant. This hummingbird stayed around eating bugs. Between hunting flights, he came back to rest at the same perch.

Mother and Child, In the Carib Indian Reservation on the east coast of Dominica.

We were on an island tour of Dominica. Happened to glimpse this scene as we drove past.

Picture 8 -

Restoration of Chateau Dubuc, Martinique.

I have visited this site several times. All the previous visits have been in the morning. We were delayed, so we arrived there in the late afternoon. The lighting made the difference.

Picking one picture from the more than 2500 pictures i took was difficult.

Picture 10 -

Antigua Race Week, Antigua

I had not planned to take pictures during Race Week. But returning to Foulmouth, i encountered the race fleet at a turning mark. Trying to manage the boat and the camera was difficult. I liked the two identical faces on the spinnakers.
