Cruising on the Sailing Vessel Wild Matilda

A few Thoughts

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

“Sailing – The fine art of getting wet and becoming ill while slowly going nowhere at great expense.” Roy McKee, Sailing: Pocket Dictionary

I believe all cruising lies somewhere between these two viewpoints.

Everyone starts cruising for a different reason. Mine began as a boy reading such books as James A. Michener's Tales of the South Pacific.

And finally,

Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.
